A big thank you to everyone who came out this weekend to paint with us! We had a great turn out from some really talented people! The energy was fun and the creativity flowing.  Here’s a few photos from the day. If you missed out on this one, no worries, we will have our schedule out in a few weeks. This Sat join your neighbors and family to help create a bit of inspiration in our town. Artist will be on hand to guide children as well as anyone interested in painting with us. Our theme is “Strong Families make Strong Communities”. We would like you and your family to come join us, in a new way to come together. The mural will be painted on the corner of 3rd and Lasalle St on May 5th Sat, 9-noon. Come and paint or just be part of the community spirit. Lasalle Streets Neighborhood Christian Center will also have and activity for the children and anyone can help us decorate the sidewalks with Chalk Art!! Family Support Alliance and Heart to Art are the other groups involved. They are working together to help bring awareness to the very serious issue of child abuse, talk with them and get some info on how you can be part of the awareness to help protect our children and our future! Looking forward to spending time with my community and I hope to see you there.

We are now we are gearing up for the new year of creating and making Berwick more beautiful!!! Stay informed as the schedule and ideas are being formed for our 3rd season of painting! As always we are looking for artists and community minded people to get involved! Make this your year to get out there and be part of your community!

This grant writing has been quite the “experience”.  I do not want to ever write another grant in my life time, but they say “Never say Never”,so only time will tell.  Thank you everyone, who helped and gave input,  I really appreciate your guidance and support, you all know who you are.  I’m going to keep my fingers crossed until we get the answer, please all do the same.  If we get awarded the grant it will be a $10,000 head start on Nationwide building mural.  So let’s here those ideas, what do you want to see on that huge empty wall?

Summer Paint Schedule Coming Soon!

We will start our season with finishing up our first years projects. Alley Art, and the YMCA. Thanks to everyone who made our first year a wonderful creation; together as a community we can do anything.

The Blueprint Communities has asked us to give the Monroe streets Sponslers Park a backdrop of a mural. We are still accepting idea submissions for this years coming artwork. If you would like to submit, or know someone who might, pleas contact Connie for more information.

We also have some interesting new public art ideas coming this summer, including public art chalkboards and something inspirational down at BerVaughn Pool.  Subscribe to this blog so you’re informed the second we post new information.  Thanks for reading and we look forward to painting the town with you!

Holy cow this summer went by fast!  And while life had us all by the collar the Berwick Mural Project moved along even faster!  Alley Art is nearly finished and looking awesome!  The YMCA wall is underway and new projects are in the works.  You know that new ‘temporary’ wall right in the middle of downtown Berwick; the one next to the bank?  Yep, that’s next on the list – Connie and crew have some pretty positive and awesome designs in the works for it.  If the weather holds you’ll see some great work going up there SOON!

2010 has been a great year for the Mural Project; lots of community involvement and support and some great ideas and locations to move forward with.  Needless to say there’s a lot to be excited about.

…and here’s something to get REALLY exited about!   The Run For The Cause –  you know, those guys behind all the fun and socially awesome exercise we have a chance to take part in…we’ll they’re throwing their weight behind The Berwick Mural Project.  That’s right, this years’ run, which will be held on Saturday November 6th, is FOR the Mural Project.  All the money raised is going toward moving forward with some really big (literally) plans for The BMP in 2011.

If you’ve wanted to help the project but haven’t figured out how, here’s a great way.  Come down, join the fun, donate towards The Cause and be a part of making Berwick whatever the heck you want it to be.  Exercise, community involvement, creativity - it’s got it all.  Check the RFTC website for a donation form, course route and any other info you need to make sure you’re there.

Connie & Crew got things going this morning as Alley Art signaled a major milestone in the Berwick Mural Project.  About a dozen volunteers helped out over the course of the day…the extra help ensuring the entire wall was primed in one shot.  Thank you to everyone that got involved today!  More information will be available soon regarding the next phase of Alley Art.

If you’re finding any of this inspiring, go with it.  Alley Art is about getting the community involved in and motivated by the Berwick Mural Project.  It’s going to be a lot of work, but it’s going to happen.  We’d love for you to be part!

April 24th is getting closer and we’re ready to get to work.  Anyone interested in getting involved in the Berwick Mural Project is asked to contact Connie Donlin at 570-578-9412.  Tomorrow evening, Monday, April 19th @ 5:30pm there will be a project meeting at the new City Hall @ 1800 N. Market St.  This is a great opportunity to get more information on how you can help, specifically with Alley Art, as well as with the project in general.

If you can’t make it Monday evening, or if that kind of meeting isn’t really your style, Connie and  crew will be in Euclid Alley at 10am this coming Saturday, April 24th prepping and priming the wall for first paint.  Stop down and lend a hand or just pick up information on getting involved.  There will also be clothespins for painting in support of the overall effort.  Thank you and we look forward to painting the town together!
